DIVINE PATHS...

TRAVELING THROUGH FORIO LOOKING FOR DIVINE PATHS

By popular demand, the excursions in the Sacred Art of Forio resume.

With the hope that the event will be honored by an enthusiastic and cheering crowd, Professor Achille invites readers to spread the news to everyone, emphasizing that the visit is free and above all to preliminarily consult on the web two of his books on the subject: Ischia sacra guida alle chiese e Ischia, l'incanto di un'isola (always available for free on the web).

After the extraordinary success with the public over the past three years, during three guided tours, Professor Achille della Ragione this year accepted again the invitation extended to him by the authorities and the many friends and he decided, with some significant changes, to repeat the experience, giving everyone an appointment at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 10th, in the church of San Gaetano, located a few meters from the hydrofoil arrival and loaded with votive offerings related to the local maritime tradition. The group will then move to the Basilica of St. Mary of Loreto, located on the main street of Forio. Going through Saracen alleys, the group will stop in the parish of Sant'Antonio Abate to admire two splendid paintings by Alfonso Di Spigna.

Already in previous years, the "Divine Paths" tour has been a real success. Despite the summer heat leading tourists and residents to beach activities, a large audience has always followed with enthusiasm and renewed interest the illustrations that Prof Achille della Ragione, Count of Lavian, gives for free. As per the information conveyed by the Professor, the mere presence in the Basilica of St. Mary of Loreto makes it possible to obtain indulgences, and many news reserved for the attending audience.

Finished the visit to the aforementioned parish, (where the relics of Saint Sebastian the Martyr are kept and whose worship was practiced in the nearby church of Madonna delle Pezze, rebuilt in the first half of the 1700s by Arch. Ferdinando Fuga, and later destroyed by the earthquake of July 28, 1883), we will return to the main street, where the next is the adjacent churches of St. Francis of Assisi, where, it is possible to contemplate, as a rare privilege given only to the event's adherents, a spectacular painting :“Pietà” by Mattia Preti, as well as numerous other paintings and wooden statues, and then move on to the Arciconfraternita di Visitapoveri, where, among many treasures, you will see an elegant inlaid coffin that, in rotation, is used by members of the confraternity, for their last journey.

We thank the readers and the tour participants. We would also like to thank, for their helpfulness and kind cooperation, the Parish Priest Don Emanuel Monte, the Prioress of the Archconfraternity of St. Mary of Visitapoveri, Dr. Maria Anna Verde, the Rector of St. Francis of Assisi Father Pasquale Matuozzo, Dr. Pietro Coppa for the Ischia Reporter station, and of course Prof. Achille Della Ragione who invites you to be ready for other pleasant discoveries.
